arolina Heritage is located on a 35-acre farm owned and operated by Clyde and Patricia Colwell, of Elkin. The vineyard was planted in 2005 and includes muscadines (Carlos, Noble and Doreen), American hybrids (Traminette, Chambourcin and Rubiana) and the native American grape, Cynthiana (which is also frequently called “Norton”).
In addition to the grapes, the Colwells have blueberries, apple trees and honey bees, all of which are also being organically grown and will be used as input for wines and meads for the Carolina Heritage Winery.
