Despite its decidedly rural atmosphere, Pine Ridge is only moments away from Edgefield, a charming community filled with antique stores, galleries and restaurants. The National Wild Turkey Federation is headquartered here, and features a fascinating wildlife museum. A sense of the past prevails through a number of living history museums and projects, including Old Edgefield Pottery, the Village Blacksmith and Carpenter’s Stand.
Just a few miles further away are the larger, more cosmopolitan towns of Aiken and Augusta.
Although Augusta is known worldwide as the home of the Masters Golf Tournament, it’s also the location of Augusta State University with its lifelong learning opportunities. As Georgia’s second-largest metropolitan area, Augusta has superb services, great shopping and dining, sports, and the Riverwalk along the scenic Savannah River.

As a part of South Carolina’s National Heritage Corridor, the area surrounding Edgefield is just as interesting, with its historic homes and preserved natural sites.

The Medical College of Georgia has helped attract a number of hospitals, including University Hospital, St. Joseph’s, Doctors’ Hospital, and the U.S. Army Dwight D. Eisenhower Hospital. In addition, a number of specialists and family practices are located within the greater community.
Aiken is smaller town with a huge history. Many of the world’s rich and famous figures have enjoyed homes in Aiken, including the likes of Fred Astaire and Pulitzer Prize-winning authors Gregory White Smith and Steven Naifeh.
Formerly a winter colony in the late 1800s for the equestrian set, it still reveres equestrian activities, and with its resurgence of polo, has attracted some of the best polo players in the world to call it home.
