Those who love
the outdoors
have long been
drawn to the
water. For those
whose passions
include hiking,
biking, boating,
fishing,
hunting, or
enjoying a round
of golf, water
always enhances
the experience
and natural
beauty of any
outdoor pastime. |

And when it comes to luxury golf club
living and water, not many have more
bragging rights than the lakefront club
community of Savannah Lakes Village. The
4,000 acre community is set along 25
miles of shoreline on one of the
country's biggest lakes.

The 70,000 acre
manmade lake has
1,200 miles of
shoreline - more
than the entire
coastline of
California. Lake
Thurmond is part
of the chain of
lakes along the
region's
Savannah River
that have come
to be known as
South Carolina's
Freshwater
Coast. |

In addition to the lake, the community
is bordered by two state parks and
thousands of acres of National Forest
land. This is small town America.
Uncongested, slow paced, and still
immune to the high costs of living that
accompany living in, or near,
metropolitan areas. Savannah Lakes is a
40-minute drive from the hallowed
grounds of the Augusta National and two
hours from downtown Atlanta.
Although life at Savannah Lakes is
refreshingly laid back, it is anything
but humdrum. Full membership privileges
into the community's wellness center,
dining and social clubs, and private
golf courses are included with a
homesite purchase. This includes indoor
and outdoor pools, hard & clay surface
tennis courts, bowling alley, fitness
center, ballroom, several private dining
options, and a golf lifestyle - all at
an incredible value.

The community is home to two private
golf courses designed by Tom Clark.
Though both courses were designed to
take the lake into play, each provides a
unique and satisfying golf experience.
The names of both golf courses reflect
the history of the region. The Tara
Course, built in 1993, found its
inspiration from the famous plantation
in Gone with the Wind. The course is
lined with stately oaks and pines. The
Monticello Golf Course (named after
Thomas Jefferson's Estate) was completed
in 2000. The layout is a modern links
course with fewer trees and more water.
On nine of the 18 holes, water comes
into play.
For members and visitors, the community
has an 80 room lakefront resort,
offering tennis, miniature golf, outdoor
pool, a luxurious three-bedroom
houseboat, and an adjacent white sand
beach.
